Writing Confessional Poetry

Confessional poets write from personal experience. They take their lives and create short pieces of art. The use all the poetic devices to tell a concise and sharp piece of literature. Through this workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to write and rewrite a short collection of poems.

Each session will begin with a poem or a collection of poetry submitted to the intsructor via email. He will then critique the poem, giving both positive reinforcement and areas in which the story might be improved. The session will then involve a short presentation on a particular poetic device.

  • How to critique a poem,
  • How to keep author and poetic integrity while writing from personal experience,
  • How to revise and perfect a piece of poetry
  • The elements of good poetry
